I think our mascot should be a made up creature called a Maroon! I think its the best way to keep the tradition of being a Maroon, but just adding a face to it. His name is Rooney, and he can be fierce, yet loveable and definetly unique.

Picture the Monopoly man with a Maroon Velvet Smoking jacket and Maxey-esque bow tie. This will intimidate our opponents as they know deep down inside that even if they are lucky enough to win the sporting event, they will one day be working for us.

Trigger is a Roanoke College campus stray and extremely nice and friendly. But when it comes to attacking her enemies (her prey) she is fiercer than any other mascot.

The meaning of maroon is to isolate. Pirates would leave mutinous shipmates on deserted islands, without any means of survival.

Our Mascot could be a big Maroon Solo cup. During half times and in between quarters, people in the stands could try to throw a big white beach ball into it for a free T-shirt or other items. We would get national recognition for our mascot like Keggy the Keg for Dartmouth. It could be a big maroon Solo cup with muscular arms and legs with a face on the cup.
