Salem used to be known as The Switzerland of the South, so Roanoke College's mascot could be The Guard, the mercenary forces from Switzerland. (Just envision the fancy, maroon and grey Swiss Guard mascot costume!)

Trigger is a Roanoke College campus stray and extremely nice and friendly. But when it comes to attacking her enemies (her prey) she is fiercer than any other mascot.

I grew up in Roanoke and it used to be known as a railroad town. I thought it might be appropriate for Roanoke College Maroons to have a mascot that relates to trains. A few ideas include - Bullet or alternatively, Locomotive or Locomotion and the mascot could be called the Loco for short - to appeal to the Spanish-speaking population.
